USPHL Premier Northwest Division Players Of The Month: January 2025

Forwards

Kasper Pohjala, Vernal Oilers 

Pohjala (‘05/Helsinki, Finland) averaged an incredible five points per game in January, scoring eight goals and posting 17 assists for 25 points in five games. The Vernal Oilers forward is a statement-making rookie, and heads into February after scoring two goals and two assists for the Pacific/NW/Canada All-Star Team. 

 

Roman Wolynec, Seattle Totems 

Wolynec (‘05/Langley, B.C.) became the USPHL Premier’s all-time leading points scorer in January, surpassing 140 points to garner 141 career points over three seasons. The Seattle Totems forward added 45 points (nine goals; 36 assists) to his scorecard over 10 games. He also scored a goal for the Pacific/NW/Canada All-Star Team. 

 

Aatu Suontakanen, Seattle Totems 

Sountakenen (‘05/Finland) scored 38 points in January, adding a massive 16 goals and 22 assists to his name. The Seattle Totems forward played 10 games, averaging 3.8 points per game. He also registered two assists for the Pacific/NW/Canada All-Star Team.

Defense

Keanu McClanahan, Iron County Yeti 

McClanahan (‘05/Summerfield, N.C.) averaged 2.86 points per game, scoring 20 points over seven games last month. His eight goals and 12 assists brought his career total to 123 points. The Iron County Yeti blueliner is in his fourth Premier season, with 26 points with the Yeti so far. 

 

Daniel Radkevich, Seattle Totems 

Radkevich (‘07/Grodno, Belarus) played 11 games last month, averaging 1.45 points per game with seven goals and nine assists. The Totems defenseman is in his second Premier season, with 49 career points so far. He has played 77 career games.

Goaltender

Cole Fennema, Seattle Totems 

Fennema (‘04/Colleyville, Texas) went 5-0-0-0 last month, with three shutouts. He made 87 saves on 91 shots, garnering a .956 save percentage across the 300 minutes he played. He captured a 0.80 goals against average for the month of January. In his rookie Premier season, he has a 1.63 goals against average and .933 save percentage. He is one shutout shy of setting the single season record. 

 

Goaltender Honorable Mention: Daniel Cleofe, Seattle Totems

 

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
